It is not random — it is a liquidity-collection mechanism: push price through the level everyone watches (the Asian high/low), let breakout traders pile in and opposite-side stops break, then flip.

Bullish Judas Swing — fake down, run up
Core idea: price sweeps below the Asian range low / low-of-day → traps sellers and eats buyers' stops → then reverses strongly higher.
Time window: the New York session liquidity window — typically 12:00-5:00 AM New York.
Confirmation: the reversal from below the opening reference back above it confirms strength — it often leads to continuation for the rest of the day.
Note the same logic as Turtle Soup, but the Judas is anchored specifically to the session opening.
Bearish Judas Swing — fake up, dump down
The mirror image: a spike above the Asian session high paints a breakout → baits buyers in and collects the liquidity above the high → rejects hard and rotates lower for the day.
Why it works: in the low-liquidity hours after NY midnight, institutions can push price cheaply — the buy stops above the high are the fuel that fills their shorts.
How to trade it: wait for confirmation after price re-breaks the opening reference (displacement + FVG). Never short the spike itself — wait for the truth to print. Pick your side in advance with Daily Bias.

Pairs with a clear Asian range: GBPUSD, EURUSD, GBPJPY. On indices (ES/NQ) use the midnight open + the futures-session Asian range. Same rule: there has to be a range to betray — if Asia trended hard with no box, the Judas model does not apply.
