Who Prop Firms Suit — and Who They Do Not

A prop firm is not good or bad in itself — it is simply "a fit" or "not a fit" for different kinds of people · this chapter helps you answer that honestly.

A prop firm fits you if...

You have a proven trading system — backtested + demoed, with a genuine edge, profitable consistently (even on a small account)

Your only problem is "too little capital" — the skill is ready, the money is not enough to scale the result

You have discipline and emotional control — you can follow rules, you do not revenge-trade, you do not overtrade

You see it as a profession, not a lottery — ready to learn, ready to take the test several times if needed

A prop firm does not fit you yet if...

You have no system, you still trade on emotion / by following others — taking the test = paying the fee away · go back and build the skill first

You see it as a "get rich quick shortcut" — it is not · that mindset will make you overtrade and blow up

You use money you "cannot afford to lose" for the fee — the fee must be money you can lose without trouble

You cannot control your own emotions yet — the Challenge has strict rules; someone who revenge-trades or gets greedy will breach them and fail for sure

Self-test questions — answer these 3 honestly:

1. "What is my trading system — can I describe it as clear rules in 1 minute?" · if you cannot answer = you have no system yet 2. "How many trades have I backtested or demoed this system over, and was the result positive?" · if you never have = you are not ready 3. "If I lost the whole fee, would it hurt me?" · if it would hurt = it is not the time yet

Answering all 3 confidently = you are ready for this path · failing even one = you still have work to do first.

Failing this test does not mean you are bad

It means you are simply "not ready yet" · what to do is go back and build skill — build a system, backtest, demo, trade a small amount of real money · when you are genuinely ready, the prop firm will still be right there, and you will pass it far more easily.
